Background: Climate change mitigation is one of today’s most recognised challenges, requiring global collaboration among academics, industry, government, and the public. However, connections between these sectors within the country are still lacking. This conference aims to bridge this gap by expanding the engineering knowledge gained from the academic and industry sectors to the government and public sectors. The conference series began in 2016, supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) UK, under the Transforming Systems through Partnership (TSP) program, which evolved from the Industry-Academia Partnerships Programme (IAPP). As its name suggests, the programme promotes collaborative research between academia and industry to address global sustainable development goals (SDGs). This fourm is expected to fulfill the programme’s objectives, which are;
- To encourage challenge-driven research and innovation that leverages engineering to tackle sustainable challenges in partner countries, the UK, and worldwide
- To create partnerships to design and deliver courses that prepare the next generation with the skills to solve sustainable development challenges
- To facilitate collaborations that create better systems for the better world
The first two forums focused on academic and industrial perspectives on CO2 utilization using catalysis and membrane technologies. This year’s forum marks the first time we are expanding our knowledge-sharing activities to include the other two sectors—government bodies and local communities.
Objectives: To share knowledge, discuss challenges, exchange ideas, and connect
Activities: Speeches and presentations on CCUS, catalysis and membrane technology, environmental democracy, global warming, sustainovation, and related policies.
